Good-Bye, Good Luck and See You Next Year

LES FEMMES MOVING TRUCK

LES FEMMES MOVING TRUCK

Go forth my sisters and conquer the world!  But can you be back by cyclocross season?  Les Femmes de S&M has some changes to its roster for the next year but that doesn’t mean  we will be without these girls forever.

Sellwood Cycle Repair darling Julie Kramer will be taking her career in the bike industry to the far off land of Tempe, Arizona. Her new employer, PIVOT CYCLES is expecting her by August 12th, ready for duty. Julie had this to say about her new home to be, Phoenix has a version of Forest Park (less green, more brown) called South Mountain. It’s the largest urban park in the US, and it has about 25 miles of mountain bike trails. Happens to be one mile from the office. Other trails exist within a 15-minute drive, including Black Canyon Trail which is totally rad!! The cute mountain town of Prescott (w/excellent mtb’n) is about an hour away to the north, and my Dad lives about 1.5 hours to the south. All of these things combined tell me I’m making the right choice.”

Next on the list of travelers is Kim Matheson. Deciding with her husband Nick to do a PRETIREMENT adventure, they both gave notice at their jobs, rented out their condo and bought a travel van. Leaving mid June, the two planned to travel Alaska, Canada, parts of the United States (visiting with family for a wedding along the way) and trekking overseas before landing back in Portland next year( in time to train for 2014 cyclocross?).

A few Les Femmes got to say good-bye at a going away party days before their departure and made sure Kim got her custom S&M hat made by the Hart family  girls (you know you have arrived when they make you a hat). Kim and Nick are blogging about their adventures if you want to see what they are up to. Bears and whales in Alaska? Yup.  http://wanderingwagesons.wordpress.com/

Mary won a NINER frame

Last but not least on the train out of town is Mary Fordham. After two years of injuries and recovery(special thanks to C-Velo Performance Cycling Studio for the training), she came out in 2013 with some big podiums in the Oregon Cross Country Series. She even won a NINER frame at a raffle after ECHO RED TO RED.  Wanting to take her career in special education to the next level, she decided to go back to school to earn her Doctorate and will be attending school in Seattle, Wa. Having just returned from a three week rafting trip in the Grand Canyon, Mary will be preparing for her late August departure by trying to fit in 2-3 Xterra races before the move. She did promise she will be back to Portland this fall for her very first cyclocross season.

Good luck lovelies!
