Before we are knee deep in mountain bike racing season, let’s take a quick look back. We had quite a year in 2012, participating in every type of race accept track. While the successes were many, we had some downs too.

Mary Fordham spent time recovering from a knee surgery in 2011 but days before her very first cyclocross race in 2012, she was hit by a car and broke her collar bone. Mary has since recovered and participated in the first cross country mountain bike race of 2013, taking 3rd in the cat 3’s at Echo Red to Red.

Beth Flanagan broke both wrists in a mountain bike accident, sidelining her racing for a short time. She is fully recovered now.

Lisa Belair-Sullivan broke 3 ribs during a mountain bike training ride but only took three weeks off from racing.

Some of our 2012 highlights include:

Julie Kramer brought home the Short Track State Champion jersey for singlespeed and won the PIR short track series for singlespeed.

Rhonda Mazza (former pro) returned to racing after taking a few years off to raise children and added some wins for the year in cyclocross including Santa Cross. Proving that mom’s are fast too!

Beth Ann Orton won the Cat 1 PIR short track series and had amazing success in both the Cross Crusade series as an A racer and moving up the ranks in pro races nationally.

Mielle Blomberg took the podium for 3rd overall in the Cross Crusade series for master A’s and took 3rd at the Short Track State Championship race in the Cat 1 field.

Jill Hardiman took 2nd at Bear Springs XC in the pro group and showed off her downhill skills for 5th overall in the Ashland Enduro Series stage race.

Lisa Belair-Sullivan didn’t let broken ribs stop her from winning the solo category at 6 hrs of Mount Hood three weeks post crash and got married post race at XC Marathon Nationals. Congratulations!

Deanna Lloyd joined the team in summer 2012, taking 3rd in the women’s duo category at 6 hrs of Mount Hood with Mielle. She also did her very first cyclocross race ever.
